Gorgeous fabrics for a baby quilt. Make a great project!
Have fun fishing with Ray, enjoy your break.
Love any shop that sells quilting fabric.
Congratulations Marni … I wish you all the success in the world.
Thanks Jenni. 🙂
Had a good cuddle with Frankie on Saturday. He’s so cute!!
Frankie and Bridey! Yay! Can’t wait to meet them! 🙂
Hahaha, “procrasti-sewing”. My equivalent is “procrasti-knitting” 🙂 At the moment I’m working on every other project I have to procrasti-knit crocheting that bloody Bear suit! I *do* want to finish it… it’s structurally interesting, but there’s no colour! All brown & black! Boring…
Am interested in a kit for the butterfly quilt pictured was wondering if if isavailable in purples
This kit is available as a ‘tailored kit’. Which means I create an individual kit for you, liaising with you via email with photos to work through colour and print choices. If you have a picture of the purple you are looking for please email me firstname.lastname@example.org with the photo. The kit when made up includes the fabrics for the top, including binding and the special interfacing to make the butterfly wings. If you would like backing and wadding this is also possible. Cost of the kits is around $150 depending on what fabrics are chosen.
Hi was wondering if you have any of the punk princess quilt kits left please
in the latest handmade Vol30 No.11 you have a piece on Sashiko Panels.
Do you have anything on the computer for that.
I enjoy doing these.
By computer do you mean so you can view/purchase the panels or panels on the computer that you can download/pdfs?
I can send you an email with photos – I’m in the process of doing a new website so nothing has been uploaded yet.
I am looking for the kit you advertised in the Patchwork & Quilting magazine for Butterfly Haven quilt kit please.
Please follow this link to the kits page in the store section of the website.
There are two versions – one pink, one blue. I no longer have any of the original kits – the only difference with the pink kit in stock is the border.
I made your Where is Hoot quilt and I loveit cant wait to see my neices face when I give it to her. Then I decided to turn my left overs into another quilt but I dont have enough of the black spot fabric used for the binding. Do you have any of this fabric left/
Hi Heather, Fantastic! I do have some of this fabric – if you can please ring through to the shop this week and I can organise a mail order for you. 🙂
French knots please Marni! x
I would like to order some Best Press starch please. Please get back to me for an order placement so I can pay you for it . Thank you Penny
Hi Judy, I will send you an email this afternoon. Thanks.
What do you have in sashiko panels & threads
I have 10 colours available – white, cream, sky blue, blue, black, pink, red, yellow, orange and apple green. They are here in this section along with the needles http://www.frankensteinsfabrics.com/?page_id=775&catid=44
As to the panels I will double check the designs I have in stock and get back to you ASAP.
Post-midday person! I can’t eat anything til midday either and food is the last thing I am thinking of at 7 in the morning. x
You made the kitty and squeak cushions as featured in Handmade magazine Volume 32 number 4. I have a 3 year old daughter who is obsesses with cats and I would love to make the kitty cushion for her. Do you have any of the black/grey cat fabric that you used, in stock?
I don’t sell that fabric at this time – I will have a look and see if there are any fat quarters left for you when I get into the studio on Tuesday.
Love this site – and how you are all handmade – is a credit to you!
Hi Bren – thanks for the compliment. 🙂
This has all been a passion of mine for years.
Dear Marni, I recently found a fabulous pattern of yours in Patchwork & Stitching Vol 13 No. 9 2012, ..
It is Emilie & Fabouguet. I have not been able to find the Inn-control plus flexible stiffning Or the Inn-spire mouldable stabiliser in Australia. Can you please help?
Thank You in anticipation
I will check when I get in the studio tomorrow for you to see what I have left in stock.
Thanks for your interest in my work.
I would like a kit for punk princess if that is possible could you please let me know .
Thanks and regards. Sue
The fabrics for Punk Princess have sold out but I will see what I can find as replacement and see if that suits. I will email you with images.
Hi Marni, I am wondering if I can get a quote to have a quilt machine quilted by yourself. The quilt is rather large. Measurements are 275cms x 290cm. I have the backing and the wadding. Wadding is bamboo. I actually have it all sandwiched & pinned together but have decided it is too big for me to do on my machine at home. I saw your advert in the Handmade magazine and thought I would drop you an email. I also have thread – I was going to use Superior Threads King Tut – 2 different colors and verigated. I have both spools, one for top thread and one for bottom thread. However I am not fussy about using that at all. I was only going to use that when I was doing it myself as I thought the verigated thread might hide some of my mistakes.
I would appreciate a quote if you are interested. Cheers Therese
Gilly is my fave 🙂 so mini and delightful! I love that S&B Brigade has given us much more regular catch-ups, and it makes me so happy to be able to introduce my oldest friend to other newer ‘acquisitions’ and delight in seeing new friendships forming between other awesome ladies!
Love your thinking. Just found your site in vol 23 patchwork n quilting. Lord help my credit card lol.
My suggestion is: Barbe à papa (means Candy floss/Cotton Candy in French) Oliphant (Elephant)
sweet heart candy quilt
Zigzags following the colours (I can picture it in my head)
Name: \”Chevron Block\”. I think a chevron quilting would look nice 🙂
I am interested in learning how to quilt. I do not own a sewing machine. Can you please advise if you have any classes for beginners. Thanking you. Dulcie
I do have classes for beginners but at this stage I don’t have spare machines. Are you able to borrow from a friend?
The best thing to do to stay in the loop regarding classes is to sign up to the mailing list here: http://frankensteinsfabrics.us4.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=97428acef7d23a1690b3a7f6a&id=154c374136
I’m in the middle of sorting out locations and dates and will email as I finalise details.
Thanks for getting in touch.

I recently helped my mother in law choose fabrics for me to make her a bag with, and yes, I had to give her some firm guidelines to help her narrow down her selection, lol! But it worked so much easier to avoid being at the fabric shop for an hour.
Fabric selection is one of the hardest parts of creating a quilt. Even once you pick out the fabrics you may change your mind as you start seeing the layout.
I’m a pre-washer, I just don’t want to risk it having seen lots of colour come out of fabrics many times. I do all mine by hand though. I also prefer the feel of washed fabrics, they don’t irritate my skin. 🙂 I posted about the subject on my blog too, here: http://hopesquiltdesigns.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/why-i-pre-wash-my-fabric.html
